About me:

I am committed to the mission of Community Colleges because that is where I enjoyed one of the best educational experiences of my life. After earning my Associate's Degree at LCCC, I transferred to Cedar Crest College and completed a B.S. in Management Studies while working for Air Products & Chemicals, Inc.  From Air Products, I went on to work at Buckeye Pipeline Co. before teaching for LCCC on a full-time basis.   I have earned an M.B.A. from Syracuse University and an M.S. in Computer Science with a Concentration in Knowledge-Based Systems from Villanova University.

I believe it is important for an instructor to bring practical knowledge into the classroom.  Nothing beats hands-on experience.  Throughout my tenure at LCCC, I have consulted with both large and small companies on a variety of software development projects. Most recently at LCCC, I managed the project to create the network infrastructure for the Web Developer Curriculum.   I currently manage between 5 and 10 web site projects per year that my student teams create for local non-profits and for LCCC programs of study. Many of the program pages on the www.lccc.edu site link to them. I am very proud of their work.

I created the Web Developer Concentration for our Computer Specialist Major in the Spring 2000 semester and we offered the first classes during the Fall of that year.  The courses in the curriculum run using IIS as a web server on the Windows 2008 Enterprise Server operating system.  We also run Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition.   We have an additional server on our network dedicated to Red Hat Linux on which we do CGI scripting in both Perl and PHP using Apache as a web server.  We run numerous client-side software packages to interact with our server software products in the Technology Center labs.   All students in the Web Developer curriculum develop and access their work using these servers.  This provides a wonderful educational experience that reflects the most popular development environments on the World Wide Web. The site URL is www.webdevlccc.com.

I have developed many courses in the concentration areas for which I am the contact person.  Additionally, I created the IDS 105 Thinking, Problem Solving, and Team Building Course for LCCC.  My professional interest and teaching areas include: Client-Side Scripting, Server-Side Scripting, Database Systems, Expert Systems, Computer Organization and Architecture, Java, and Visual Basic. Most recently I have been working with Steven Weitz of our graphics design area to create a curriculum in gaming and simulation.
