The children's classroom has been carefully crafted using current research and
recommendations for quality environmental design. The classroom is a model for utilizing classroom zones that are
wet, dry, quiet, or noisy. Within these zones are literacy-enriched interest areas for dramatic play, blocks, art, sand/water,
library, and discovery that foster the cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development of the children. A lot
of attention has been given to creating an early childhood environment that is unique for the children and is exemplary
for future teachers and for the community.

The Arcadia Foundation Performing Arts Studio - SH 140:
The Arcadia Foundation Performing Arts Studio is flexible space dedicated to the performing
arts, such as creative dramatics and dramatic play, movement and dance, music, and puppetry as well as to large motor experiences.
In this studio, the children of Stay 'N Play, faculty, and students can develop creative dramatic presentations on the spotlighted informal stage area.
A large carpeted floor area and state-of-the-art sound system promote dance and exercise. Housed in the room are numerous rhythm
instruments, including authentic ethnic instruments.

|
Hats, masks, scarves, and lengths of material with which to create costumes for
dance or for dramatic play performances are available for imaginative uses. A collection of quality puppets lead to informal and formal puppet shows. In storage near the studio is an assortment
of streamers, hula hoops, bean bags, and parachutes to augment the children's physical development through games and large motor lessons. Students plan
and experience lessons that demonstrate teaching and learning knowledge based on Howard Gardner's musical and kinesthetic intelligences. In the past,
as in many college settings, students only talked about these elements and intelligences or had to experiment with them in crowded classrooms or in hallways.
Rotating displays in the classroom will expose college students to innovative ideas for music and movement materials and experiences.
