The Medical Assistant program at LCCC is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), on the recommendation of the American Association of Medical Assistants Curriculum Review Board. The Medical Assistant program educates students to perform both administrative and clinical procedures in a variety of ambulatory health care settings. Under the direction of a licensed physician, the Medical Assistant performs procedures such as: measuring vital signs, preparing treatment rooms and medical instruments, giving injections, performing routine laboratory tests, updating patient files, completing insurance forms, scheduling appointments, arranging referrals, and medical transcription.
