PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

As in all endeavors, a course of study will be a meaningful experience for the student who chooses to “look for” and “expect” results. The student will receive nothing for nothing and is expected to contribute to the ultimate advancement of the entire class, as would be typical in the “real world” work environment. The pay the student will receive is for the work that they accomplish. This pay the student receives for their performance will not only be a grade and diploma, but the joy, self-esteem, and satisfaction that accompanies any special effort put into achieving a goal.

It is my opinion that the student will reach the pinnacle of hi/her career pathway if he/she follows these simple guidelines:

The successful student must:

  • Be self-disciplined;
  • Follow directions (plans his/her work and follows that plan);
  • set reasonable goals, both short term and long term, and work toward accomplishing those goals.

    To meet this end, I as an educator and facilitator plan to do all that is within my power to motivate the student. I believe that the teacher must:

  • provide a program of the most recent innovations and information
  • provide the opportunity to develop basic skills
  • provide an organized and systematic approach to the information being disseminated
  • provide individualized instruction to allow for population diversity
  • help each student develop his knowledge base in a manner that will enable the student to continue to build upon his prior learning
  • help each student realize the necessary of life-long learning
  • make each student aware of the dignity and worth of labor
  • develop an understanding of social and economic importance of the personal traits relating to good work habits, inter-personal relationships, and employer/employee relations
