Internship Information

Internships allow students to apply the knowledge acquired in courses to concrete situations, acquire skills specific to a particular area of interest, and gain practical experience in horticulture working with professionals in the field.

Horticulture students may sign up for a 3-credit internship. Students may substitute a horticulture internship (usually taken during the summer between the first and second year) for the Professional Elective scheduled in the 4 th semester. A variety of local horticulture-related businesses and organizations have expressed an interest in having horticulture interns.

Students will work under the supervision of a professional horticulturist at the internship site and report periodically to the LCCC faculty supervisor. For each academic credit earned, a student must work 75 hours. Meeting times and specific tasks will vary depending on the location of the internship. Students must have completed 12 credits in horticulture or plant science at LCCC to qualify for the internship. The internship must be pre-approved by the faculty supervisor.
