Are you interested in teaching
special needs
children and considering a career as a
paraeducator?
Are you currently a paraeducator and want to increase your
knowledge or hone your skills?
Either way, the Teacher Education Department at Lehigh
Carbon Community College is right for you.
And, with Project FLAGSHIP, your costs for tuition and books
can be covered IN FULL.
Project FLAGSHIP is a federal grant program that helps LCCC
paraeducation students to succeed by providing funding for scholarships, mentoring,
learning communities, and supplemental instruction. In addition, LCCC will serve currently
employed paraeducators by collaborating with the Carbon-Lehigh and Schuylkill intermediate
units as well as with public and private schools in Lehigh, Carbon, and Schuylkill counties.
Project FLAGSHIP is our newest scholarship opportunity. Students accepted into this program
will receive tuition and books for free toward their
Special Education A.A.S. degree. We are
accepting both full-time and part-time students.
Through its
Special Education Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree , the
Teacher Education department at LCCC is committed to graduating highly qualified
paraeducators, who serve school-age children with high-incidence disabilities.
Because of a current shortage of highly qualified paraeducators, job prospects are
exceptional for graduates entering the field.
